Roommates, we are sending our deepest condolences to the family of Andrew Woolfolk, the longtime saxophonist of the legendary group Earth, Wind & Fire.
Philip Bailey, one of the lead singers for the group, shared the unfortunate news Sunday. He shared that Andrew, unfortunately, passed after battling an illness for over six years. In a post made on social media, Philip shared a photo of himself and Andrew and said,
“I met him in High School, and we quickly became friends and bandmates. Andrew Paul Woolfolk was his name. We lost him today, after being ill of over 6 years. He has transitioned on to the forever, from this Land of the dying to the Land of the Living.”

Philip ended his post by saying,
“Great memories. Great Talent. Funny. Competitive. Quick-witted. And always styling. Booski…I’ll see you on the other side, my friend.”
Andrew first joined the band back in the 1970s and became a longtime member of the group. He contributed to many of the group’s classic hits such as “September, and “Shining Star.” He was also inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 as a member of the group. In 2017, he was also inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame.
Aside from his contributions to the group, he has also collaborated with other artists such as Phil Collins, Deniece Williams, Stanley Turrentine, and many others.
