Amber Rose Shuts Down Critics Claiming She 'Perpetuates Colorism': 'I Can't Help How I Look'

Amber Rose recently took a moment to address her critics, and she cleared the air as people accused her of “perpetual[ing] colorism” within the Black community.

She Owns Her Black & White Identities: “Leave Me The F**k Alone About How I Look”

The situation began after Amber shared a video of herself switchin’ up her signature buzz cut in favor of donning long blonde hair, which The Shade Room reshared via Instagram on Sunday (Jul. 9).

Once the post began to pick up steam, Amber Rose stepped into the comment section to call out people’s statements on her appearance.

Specifically, she addressed accusations that she was “perpetual[ing] colorism in the black community” due to her “genetics,” and she brushed them off by declaring, “I can’t help how I look [and] don’t try to be anything I’m not.”

“I’m BLACK and WHITE now leave me the f**k alone about how I look. I can’t crawl back in my mom’s p***y and come out darker to make you feel more comfortable with who I am.”

Amber Rose added that, while she isn’t solely Black, she is “NOT no f**king white woman.” She also acknowledged that it’s “unfair” to Black women if she doesn’t own her biracial identity.

“I am NOT no f**king white woman stop playing with me. I’m not just a black woman either. It’s unfair to black women and their experiences for me to even say that.”

The 39-year-old further elaborated on this stance, noting that “the world does not treat [her]” like a Black woman.

“I can empathize with black women, but I am not a dark skinned or brown skinned black woman to sit here and be delusional and act like I know what that feels like. I don’t. The world does not treat me like that.”

She wrapped up by reiterating that her identifying as biracial has nothing to do with “denouncing [her] blackness.”

“That is not me denouncing my blackness that is me saying that out of respect for the black woman’s experience, which I do not have as a fair skinned biracial person. I don’t understand why that is so hard to comprehend?”

The Subject Sparked An Altercation Between Amber Rose & Joseline Hernandez

Speaking of Amber Rose and colorism, we have to point out that the matter recently came up during an on-screen altercation between the SlutWalk activist and Joseline Hernandez on College Hill: Celebrity Edition.

As The Shade Room previously reported, Amber attacked Joseline after Hernandez accused Rose of wanting to “be a white girl.” This statement came on the heels of Amber declaring, “I don’t fit in in white spaces, but I don’t fit in Black spaces either.”

After the incident aired, Amber Rose shared her thoughts on the situation by acknowledging how fickle people can be when it comes to how biracial people should identify.

Shortly thereafter, Rose offered further insight by calling the internet “remedial as f**k” and declaring, “I never denounced my Blackness.”
