Cops Initially Called To Union, South Carolina Burger King For Disturbance
The BK manager and a witness called 911 to the restaurant on Duncan Bypass in Union for a disturbance.
There, they found two women, identified as Shantel Elizabeth Harris and Ivory Lakeisha Muhammad, loudly arguing with staff members after seeing an employee give them dirty french fries.
Authorities say the women refused to calm down after being told to do so by a responding officer, the outlet reports.
A police report described Harris, 37, and Muhammad, 39, as “two black females using body language pointing at employees that indicated they were angry about something,” according to the Daily Mail. Police arrested both women on disorderly conduct charges.
Followup Complaint Leads To Assistant Manager’s Arrest For Serving Dirty Fries From Trash Can
On July 11, police again received a complaint from headquarters about the exact Burger King location.
The caller accused an employee of throwing fries into a trash can and then serving those fries to customers. The outlet reports that Major took the fries out of the trash before placing them in the fryer.
Police ultimately arrested Major after an arrest warrant went out, according to the New York Post. A judge set her bond at $20,000, online court records show.
Per court records, she was still in custody as of Thursday (July 20). The State reports that she faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that Burger King has since fired Major.
“These allegations do not align to the brand’s commitment to quality food and service and creating an exceptional Guest experience,” a Burger King spokesperson told Fox Business.
Officials eventually listed Harris and Muhammad as victims in Major’s case. It’s unclear if prosecutors will be tossing the women’s disorderly conduct charges.
Burger King Reacts To Manager’s Alleged Actions
As mentioned, HQ reported the manager and released a statement to Fox Business about the incident.
“These allegations do not align to the brand’s commitment to quality food and service nad creating an exceptional Guest experience,” BK spokesperson said. “The Franchisee of this restaurant is cooperating with local authorities and will take appropriate action based on the findings,” the statement said. “As this remains an ongoing investigation, we are unable to share additional details at this time.”
