Fever head coach Christie Sides is handling the situation by sending tapes of the rough plays to the league. She told reporters, “I’m trying not to get fined.” Sides said that she was “gonna keep sending these possessions to the league and these plays.” Coach Sides wants the officials to open their eyes to the roughness Caitlin is experiencing on the hardwood. “Hopefully, they’ll start to, you know, take a better look at some of the things we see happening or we think is happening,” she said.
Chennedy Carter’s Flagrant Foul Against Caitlin Clark
As previously reported by The Shade Room, Chennedy Carter shoulder-checked Caitlin and sent her to the ground during a June 1 game — the Chicago Sky vs. the Indiana Fever. The incident occurred after Carter made a jumper. Aliyah Boston was waiting to inbound the ball to Caitlin when Chennedy slammed into her from the side. The blow was ruled a personal foul without review, but it was upgraded to a Flagrant-1 violation after officials watched a replay on Sunday, June 2.
During a post-game press conference, No. 7 refused to speak about the incident. She stated, “I ain’t answering no Caitlin Clark questions.” When a reporter asked if they exchanged words, Chennedy claimed she didn’t know what the guard said. Additionally, she said that she didn’t speak to the former Iowa Hawkeye. However, the video appeared to show Chennedy yelling a few words before making contact with Caitlin.
The Chicago Sky’s head coach, Teresa Weatherspoon, seemingly dismissed the players’ encounter, stating they were just “competing.”
As reported by The Shade Room, Caitlin complained about the roughness on the court. During a previous post-game interview, she told reporters that she was being “hammered” on the court. Furthermore, she said refs were letting her opponents “[get] away with things.”
