VP Harris Calls For Second Debate Against Trump
As previously reported by The Shade Room, VP Kamala Harris and Donald Trump engaged in their highly anticipated first debate on Tuesday, September 10, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The now-viral event sparked many reactions, including one from VP Kamala Harris. ABC News reports that the attorney responded to the debate with an email calling for a rematch with Trump in October.
“Under the bright lights, the American people got to see the choice they will face this fall at the ballot box: between moving forward with Kamala Harris, or going backwards with Trump. That’s what they saw tonight and what they should see at a second debate in October. Vice President Harris is ready for a second debate. Is Donald Trump?” the email from VP Harris’ campaign stated.
As expected, Donald Trump quickly clapped back at Kamala Harris’ request, telling ABC News he’d have to think about it during a surprise appearance after the debate.
“Well, I don’t know, I have to think about it, but if you won the debate, I sort of think maybe I shouldn’t do it. Why should I do another debate? She immediately said, We want another. That, you know, what happens when you lose you immediately want to do a rematch. They want another debate because they lost,” Trump said.
However, Donnie continued on, not completely dismissing the second debate idea. “I am not inclined to do it because I won the debate by a lot. But I think we let it settle in, and let’s see what happens,” Trump explained. Trump’s comments didn’t stop there. On Wednesday (Sept. 11), he hopped on Truth Social to take another jab at Vice President Kamala Harris.
“In the World of Boxing or UFC, when a Fighter gets beaten or knocked out, they get up and scream, ‘I DEMAND A REMATCH, I DEMAND A REMATCH!’ Well, it’s no different with a Debate. She was beaten badly last night. Every Poll has us WINNING, in one case, 92-8, so why would I do a Rematch?”
Although the second presidential debate has yet to be confirmed, both candidates were previously presented with the idea of competing again on October 1.
