A Bronx MTA bus driver walked away without injuries after almost driving off a parkway overpass on Friday, January 17.

How Did A Bronx MTA Bus End Up Dangling Off The Highway?
According to the New York Post, an MTA bus driver lost control, missed a turn, and crashed through the stone wall of the Henry Hudson Parkway around 8:40 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17. A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the New York Post shows the bus teetering on the edge, with huge chunks of stone scattered across the road.
ABC 7 News reports that the bus had no passengers onboard as it had just begun its route into Manhattan. The driver struggled to maneuver around a parked car on the Henry Hudson Parkway service road. After passing the parked vehicle, the bus veered onto the curb and got stuck between a grassy area and a ditch.
A second bus driver, caught in the heavy morning traffic a few vehicles back, offered assistance. Taking the wheel to help, the second driver tried to navigate the tricky turn, but the bus slid out of control and crashed through the barrier wall.

Here’s What Happened After The MTA Bus Crash & Update On The Driver
Two tow trucks worked together to pull the bus onto solid ground. Firefighters also assisted with the job, per Pix11. Despite the chaos, police confirmed that they safely removed the driver from the bus. The 37-year MTA veteran walked away unharmed.
Additionally, Marcos Soler, Chairman of the Yonkers Depot, spoke with ABC 7 News about the frightening incident. Soler said that the parked car on the road reduced the space available for the MTA bus driver.
“The way the car is angled and parked its not hugging the curb, so it limits how much space we had. The express buses are longer than the local buses. So, it does make it a little challenging for the express operator to get around, because we have 45 feet and local buses are 40 feet,” Soler explained.
