The White House Claps Back At Selena Gomez’s Emotional Immigration Video
On Friday, Jan. 31, Donald Trump’s administration dropped a response to Selena Gomez featuring mothers who say undocumented immigrants allegedly murdered their children. The White House took to Instagram with a video mixing clips of Selena crying alongside various mothers putting her on blast.
One mother straight up told Selena, “You don’t even know who you’re crying for.” Another questioned Selena’s sincerity, saying it’s “hard to believe that it’s actually genuine and real because she’s an actress.”
Social Media Weighs In
Over in The Shade Room’s comment section, folks dragged The White House, accusing Trump’s administration of bullying. Many backed Selena Gomez, saying she has every right to feel type of way about what’s going down.
Instagram user @kalavesi8305 wrote, “She’s allowed to be emotionally bothered by what she see.”
Instagram user @kimmymar wrote, “Blast her for what!? How the hell you’re going to tell her she can’t show emotion!?”
While Instagram user @lisahorne_ wrote, “So where’s the video of them addressing the many white people killing kids with school shootings?”
Then Instagram user @urroyalbubs_ wrote, “Selena is crying for the ones that are not criminals and are getting ripped away from their families after starting lives here. Nobody is crying for criminals not to be deported!!”
Another Instagram user @ayeitsalex wrote, “for the WHITE HOUSE to take time to send out selena gomez’s instagram story and professionally record bullying responses… is wild.”
Instagram user @_maryrivera wrote, “I’m 100% she wasn’t crying about the ones who have committed crimes.”
While another Instagram user @bigbullpov wrote, “child everybody in the white house slow , including yall president 😂”
Then another Instagram user @goddess_nano wrote, “Why don’t we get the same response for a school shootings ???? 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ I can’t.”
Instagram user @toddriawatson wrote, “They’re given this more attention than the plane crashes……”
Lastly, Instagram user @jercaury wrote, “Never seen a more unserious administration than this one. We got real ass problems going on smh 🤦🏽♀️”
Selena Goes Viral With Tearful Video About Mass Deportations
If you missed it, earlier this week, Selena posted a now-deleted Instagram video breaking down over the mass deportations. As The Shade Room previously reported, the singer couldn’t believe what was happening and was completely torn up over the ongoing deportations.
“I just want to say I’m so sorry about how many people are getting attacked… children… I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do.”
She also apologized to those affected and said she was “trying to do everything she could to help.” Her video blew up, sparking all kinds of reactions. But instead of backing down, she responded with, “Apparently its not ok to show empathy for people.”
